The Colin Powell Youth Leadership Center, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is to be completed in the Fall of 2007. The over-arching goal for the Colin Powell Youth Leadership Center is to help each youth involved in the programs graduate from high school and to go on to a post-secondary experience of higher education or training. Ultimately, the goal is to raise up a new generation of urban leaders who are well-educated, who are skilled in today’s technologies, who are prepared for vocational pursuits, who are morally sound, and who have the ability and desire to transform a broken community within a city – despite its prosperity and stature – that is also marked by disparity and divide.
To help achieve these goals, the Center is being built in tandem with the Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. The school will serve low-income families of any faith or culture who desire a religiously supportive, Christian value-centered, education for their children. The high school, founded in partnership with Urban Ventures Leadership Foundation, which has a long history of service to the families of the Phillips Neighborhood in Minneapolis, will share the new 160,000 square-foot Colin Powell Leadership Center. The Center itself will provide a host of services for neighborhood kids and families, whom may not necessarily be attending the High School.
rClient was invited at the start of this project to act as the overall technology advisor. Utilizing our vast experience across a wide-array of technologies and workspace design, rClient has played a vital role from design to construction, in ensuring that all technology components including the center’s phone systems, cabling infrastructure, video, computer networks, servers and computers are integrated to best serve the facility and its future users.
